Designing a Summer Training Program

I have the opportunity to develop a summer training program for a group of (will be) 5th grade boys who will be playing together next fall\winter.  The boys have all player traveling basketball and are all above average players.

While most of the boys will be playing baseball or something else this summer we would still like to fit in some basketball training during the summer.  I'm guessing we'll be able to play once or twice a week and 90 minutes or so.

My question is about what types of skills should they be working on during the summer?  Should we work on skills through drills, skills through games (e.g. Dev Bball IQ), shooting, strength and fitness or all of the above?

We won't be play competitve games during this time.  It will be purely for skill development.  Do you have any tips on what kind of skills I should focus on?

Thanks.

90 minutes twice per week fits nicely into the Playmakers BAsketball Development League concept: http://playmakersleague.com

Personally, it depends on the actual skill level of the players. I would focus on the Foundation: movement skills, building a passion for playing the game, competitiveness and basic concepts of how to play the game. Then I'd focus on mastering a couple basic skills like lay-ups and other finishes, ball handling, individual defense, give-and-go's, spacing, etc.

I coach a high school boys team and during June we play summer league games even though I am not fond of doing that the kids enjoy it and we play everyone.  The breakdown we use is as follows.  Remember this is for 14-18 year olds, basketball is our main sport(we do not have a fball team) so this is what the school and community are all about.

Mondays-Lifting with a LB emphasis and skill development work for 20 mins.

Tuesdays-Full team practice using TGfU for everything / no 5v0 and no “shooting drills”, all competitive stuff

Wednesdays-League games / 2 games per day, team is split in 2 and rotate every 4 mins so everyone plays the same amount

Thursdays-Lifting with an UB emphasis and skill development work for 20 mins.

Friday-same as Tuesdays practice

Obviously this is not suited for 5th graders, just showing an example of what we do in the summer.  Hope it helps.

I am at looking at something a bit similar and could use your help.  I am looking at providing players with an individual workout program.

I am looking at drills girls could do independently.  I am unsure about how many would actually do it but I thought of providing them with something if some are inclined to do it.  The girls are in grade 8 and will be moving on to the highschool next year. For half this is the first season playing and the other half it is their second. I am looking to keep things simple some ball handling, layups/finishing and shooting.  I have some ideas but could always use some more.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

This is from soccer, and also based on professionals, but gives some good information:
