Brian – I have Cross Over and I wanted to get another one of your books.  I coach youth basketball and I was wondering what the main difference between Developing Basketball Intelligence and Blitz Basketball was and which would help me more.  Thanks.

Kevin:

DBI focuses on tactical skills – give and go cuts, pick and rolls, transition, etc. It offers drills and teaching points specific to the skills that form the foundation of any offense.

Blitz is one approach that uses develops skills through a competitive approach. It focuses on technical skills through a tactical system (similar to the dribble-drive-motion with a man-to-man trapping press).

So, if you want a more general approach that you can use and take things to enhance your system, I'd go DBI. If you're looking for a simple system to implement with a youth team, try Blitz. Personally, if I had to recommend one, I'd recommend DBI.
