I know strength and conditioning starts right from the beginning stages of learning the game with the warm up sessions. But then i want to know at which age should you start focusing more on strength and conditioning?

Depends upon what type of strength & conditioning. Here is a recent post based on the current NSCA guidelines for youth weight training:

http://basketballmedicine.blog…..youth.html

Weight lifting is a statistically safe sport when done properly and with correct supervision. The danger, of course, is too much weight too soon and too much loading of the spine with undeveloped athletes.

I trained an athlete who started Olympic lifts at 9-years-old, with proper supervision working with a current college strength coach, and he benefitted.

I start with body weight exercises – squats, lunges, push-ups, pull-ups – and there is little risk involved with body weight exercises for young children if their form is correct.

In Secret of Soviet Sports Fitness & Training by Dr. Michael Yessis, he writes:

A large body of Soviet anatomical/physiological evidence now shows that prepubescent childre can safely lift weights – and so they do. From ages nine to thirteen, Soviet children demonstrating potential in weight training begin a general conditioning program with light weights that eventually leads them into specialized routines. The research has examined everything from growth-related epiphyseal disks to heart-circulatory function and has shown that, rather than causing injuries, the Soviet approach produces better athletes.
